- decomposers - a living thing that breaks down dead organisms
- food chain - the path of food from one living thing to another
- prey - an animal that is hunted by a predator
- increase - the population will grow larger because of more food or fewer predators
- decrease - the population will get smaller because of less food or more predators
- stay the same - the population size will not change. the animals are not affected positively or negatively. there is a balance
